Two Weinberg College Physicists Honored by the American Physical Society
Professors Anupam Garg and Andre de Gouvea have been named 2012 Fellows of the American Physical Society.
Each year, only half of 1 percent of the American Physical Society’s membership is recognized as a Fellow. Election is a distinct honor, as it denotes recognition by one’s professional peers.
Garg, a professor of physics and astronomy, was cited “for theory and predictions of molecular magnetism and macroscopic quantum phenomena.” De Gouvea, an associate professor of physics and astronomy, was recognized “for exceptional service to the field of neutrino physics through innovative studies of possible neutrino properties and their experimental implications.”
The American Physical Society represents more than 50,000 members, including physicists in academia, national laboratories and industry in the United States and throughout the world.
