Academic Honors

Academic honors are awarded to students who do distinguished work in the College.

Dean's List

In Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters a Dean’s List is compiled of students in Weinberg College whose grade-point averages (GPAs) during the previous quarter was 3.70 or above based on no fewer than three courses taken for a regular letter grade. The student receives notification that the work of the previous quarter was completed with "Distinction." Inclusion on the Dean’s List is not noted on the permanent record.

Phi Beta Kappa

Each spring, the Northwestern chapter of Phi Beta Kappa elects juniors and seniors in Weinberg College to that society. Students do not apply to Phi Beta Kappa, but are elected on the basis of numerous criteria, including GPA, the selection of courses, and instructors' recommendations. No more than 10 percent of any graduating class may be elected.

Honors at graduation

Other academic honors are awarded at graduation. These include graduating from Weinberg College with Latin honors (graduating magna cum laude, and so on) and graduating with departmental honors.
