Graduate Research
UNDERSTANDING Funding TYPES
There are 3 general categories of funding for graduate student research:
- Internal Funding from The Graduate School (TGS)
- External Fellowships
- Apply for fellowships through the Office of Fellowships.
- External Research Grants
- Apply through Weinberg Research Administration
Weinberg Research Administration
The Weinberg Research Administration Office assists both faculty and graduate students with preparing research grant proposals to both federal agencies (NIH, NSF) and foundations. The actual submission of grant proposals is done by the Office for Sponsored Research (OSR). Your Research Administrator will take care of the administrative aspects of grant proposal submission, and also will work with OSR on submission. If you are a Weinberg graduate student intending to submit a proposal, please be sure to contact your department’s Research Administrator (RA) at least 6 weeks before the sponsor deadline.
