In each issue of the newsletter, you’ll meet a member of the Weinberg College staff. We hope you enjoy getting to know colleagues from around the campus!

Staff member name: Crystal Foster

Title:  Department Assistant, Department of Philosophy

How long have you been working at Northwestern/WCAS?  10 years

Do you have a special interest/talent/hobby?  Writing fiction. Specifically, novels, screenplays, short stories and poems.

How did you get started? I always enjoyed coming up with stories and have written screenplays, short stories and poems over the years. After I received my B.A., I wrote and produced television programs, including a script for my previous employer, The History Makers, which aired on PBS.

How do you devote time to this special interest/talent/hobby? During my daily commute and on weekends, I take time to work on projects.

What are your dreams and aspirations? I want to continue creating stories and gather a number of works to one day have published or produced.

Favorite Chicago and/or Evanston restaurant, location, activity? I enjoy biking or walking along the lakefront bike path.

What is your expertise as it pertains to your job at Northwestern/WCAS? Just about all things related to NU Financials, payroll and J-1 visa tasks (among other things).

If you have $5 and you’re at Walgreen’s, what do you buy? Most likely, I would buy a hair accessory.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would love to return to Paris, France for a longer stay, and visit the southern region of the country. Also, any island in the Caribbean.
