Heyck Memorial Service Set for Nov. 15

The Northwestern University community and the Department of History will hold a memorial tribute to honor the life of Professor T. William (Bill) Heyck on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11 am in Vail Chapel (adjacent to Alice Millar Chapel), 1870 Sheridan Road, Evanston.

A reception will follow in the Leopold Room in Harris Hall.

Bill Heyck was a distinguished scholar, and for over 40 years was professor of British history at Northwestern University, during which time he chaired the History Department, served as associate dean of the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, and helped found the University's residential college system.

Through various honors and awards, the University paid tribute to the diverse and integral roles Heyck played within the Northwestern community as teacher, scholar, mentor, adviser and academic innovator.

Heyck is remembered for his love of family, his moral compass and his sharp sense of humor.
