Paths: Your Arts and Science Degree

What did you do with your Arts and Sciences degree?

The paths that Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences graduates take through life are varied and often unexpected. In this issue of Weinberg magazine, Sheri Prentiss '89, Sean Harte '87, and Helen Froelich Holt ’34, '38 share some of the twists and turns their lives took after they graduated from Weinberg College.

From the time she was 2, she knew that her purpose in life was to help others heal.

But after a series of trials that included divorce, depression, breast cancer and her mother’s failing health, Prentiss herself was badly in need of healing.

Growing up in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood, Sean Harte found few role models, particularly any who shared his Native American bloodlines.

That all changed when Harte, an enrolled member of the Menominee Indian tribe, arrived at Northwestern in 1983.

Helen Froelich Holt never saw herself as a trailblazer.

“I was just working and doing what needed to be done,” she says. “When I think back, I was a pioneer in an awful lot of things, and I didn’t realize it at the time.”
