Spring 2022 TLT WEINBERG FOCUS
Welcome to the spring quarter edition of the TLT Weinberg Focus. This time, we’ll be looking at what Northwestern students have to say about Canvas and about some of the teaching and learning practices that were central to remote learning. We hope you enjoy reading about:
- Survey Says...What Students Want in Canvas Course Structures
- What to Keep, What to Retire, and How to Decide
- Award-Winning Canvas Course Sites
These articles draw from information gathered in the Canvas student satisfaction surveys we conduct twice per year and the nominations submitted for the Canvas Hall of Fame, a new recognition that will be given at this year’s TEACHx conference on May 18, 2022. The Canvas Hall of Fame will recognize outstanding Canvas course sites, as nominated by the students who appreciate them.
We sought Canvas Hall of Fame nominations for courses, but we heard in the nominations the deep appreciation students have for the instructors who built those courses. We know that building a Canvas course takes time during a period when you are busy with your course planning. Thus, we hope these articles will provide guidance on how to spend your course-building time to maximize impact for student success.
In addition to our regular workshop offerings, the Teaching & Learning Technologies team is available for individual consultations to help you build a Canvas course site that students will appreciate (and could even be award-winning!)
