Staff Spotlight: Sloane Moore

Sloane Moore is a Business Analyst for Weinberg College IT Solutions (WITS).

How long have you been working at Northwestern?

I started at Northwestern in October 2021.

What is your role at Weinberg College IT?

I’m a Business Analyst on the Functional Solutions team for WITS, so basically that means that I try to help people solve business problems with technology.

What attracted you to Northwestern University?

Northwestern’s dedication to learning and education really resonated with me. I’m a big believer in learning, sharing knowledge, and continuous improvement, so Northwestern seemed like a fantastic fit. And the people here are amazing! I’ve truly enjoyed working with my team and interacting with others at the university.

What project are you working on right now that you’re excited about?

I’m very excited to be working with automations. Most recently, I’ve been working with Smartsheet and Microsoft Power Automate to improve business processes for various departments. It’s been a great challenge! I’m a career changer (my background is in digital marketing—and specifically in marketing automation), and I’ve enjoyed applying what I know to new situations. Weinberg is really lucky to have so many tools at its disposal, and I’m looking forward to helping people make the most of them.

If you weren’t in IT, what do you think you’d be doing?

I love learning and I’m fascinated by how people learn, so I’d probably be involved in education in some capacity. Either that or a professional chocolate taster.

What’s something you like to do outside of work?

When I’m not at work, you can typically find me doing something music related. Recently, I’ve been trying to learn violin (please don’t ask me to perform—I sound just awful). It’s been a lot of fun! In pre-pandemic times, I enjoyed going to the opera, too. I’m hoping to attend more performances in the future.
