2013 Teaching Award Winners Announced
Thirteen Weinberg College faculty members and graduate student teaching assistants will be honored this year for outstanding teaching.
The awards, and the award winners, include:
E. LeRoy Hall Award for Teaching Excellence:
- Alexandra Owen, Professor of History and Gender & Sexuality Studies
Weinberg College Distinguished Teaching Awards:
- John Alba Cutler, Assistant Professor of English
- Steven Jacobsen, Associate Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences
Arts and Sciences Alumni Teaching Awards:
- Marie-Thérèse Pent, Distinguished Senior Lecturer in French
- Ursula Porod, Lecturer in Mathematics
- Joan Zielinski, Lecturer in Business Institutions and Sociology (in memoriam)
Weinberg College Award for Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Research:
- Gary Alan Fine, John Evans Professor of Sociology
Weinberg College Outstanding Freshman Advising Awards:
- Daniel Immerwahr, Assistant Professor of History
- Rebecca Johnson, Assistant Professor of English
- Michelle Wright, Associate Professor of African American Studies
Weinberg College Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Awards:
- Tatiana Filimonova, Ph.D. candidate, Slavic Languages and Literatures
- Boris Hanin, Ph.D. candidate, Mathematics
- Rebecca Marchiel, Ph.D. candidate, History
Weinberg College Teaching Awards applaud excellence in instruction, significant contributions to curricular innovation, exemplary mentoring of research and independent study, and fostering of a sense of community both inside and outside the classroom.
This year’s recipients will be honored at the annual Weinberg College Teaching Awards luncheon to be held on June 6th in the Guild Lounge in Scott Hall.
